Linda Edna Cardellini's parents are businessmen Wayne David Cardellini and Lorraine (Hernan). Her parents were born at Redwood City in California. After her success as Lady Rose MacClare on the period drama Downton Abbey from 2012-2015 her debut role was in the movie fantasy Cinderella in 2015. James was later cast as the Countess Natasha Rostova, in the version on television of War & Peace, in 2016. She also appeared in a number of films. They include the action-packed film Baby Driver (2017) and the period dramas Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018 and 2021) and the musicals Mamma Mia! We Go Back Again (2018) and Yesterday (2019). Her portrayal of Pamela Anderson for the biographical show Pam & Tommy in 2022 was recognized with Golden Globes as well as the Primetime Emmy Awards.
