Awkwafina started out as a American performer and rapper, performing sly tunes that dealt with topics like racial or sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood her career, she had the opportunity to perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. In addition to classical and jazz, Nora Lum started to study hip-hop during her teens. In college, she studied writing and women's studies. Then, she even had an hour studying Mandarin in Beijing. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. Her song My Vag which was her response to Mickey Avalons My Dick, became a viral hit across the Internet and was later featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also contained also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitchethe cost of $. The song was is directly linked to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her guide to travel in 2015. As a musician and an author in her portfolio, she decided to determined to pursue acting in a third project. She's appeared in movies like Neighbors 2, Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed several breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
